Yellow warning light?
#1
Had a long and enthusiastic drive this afternoon, next thing I know a yellow light lights up, symbol looks like an engine block.
Nearest looking one (not quite the same as the one on the dash) in the handbook says "injection, ignition or anti pollution". Everything is still running smoothly, so I'm wondering if anyone can give me educated guesses as to what I'm going to hear at a garage tomorrow morning? Huh

It hasn't been serviced for way too long, so it's my own fault if something expensive happens I suppose. Would be xmas time, wouldn't it? Sad

Do cat.convertors overheat, break, need replacing? Expensive? The car still starts and runs smoothly so I'm wondering if that only leaves the "anti pollution" option after a long drive where I was really pushing it.

Any ideas please?  And Merry Christmas too!

That light can come on for virtually no reason at all, if all is ok it normally goes out on it's own after a few short journeys, so I would wait a day or so to see if it goes out before a garage trip!

Slapped wrist for not keeping on top of the oil changes though, if nothing else make sure you get the oil and filter changed if it's overdue   Wink

Thanks jj9, I'm used to the air bag light sometimes staying lit for a journey, but I've never had this other yellow light before. I shall report back tomorrow with what happens Smile

Kindly local garage hooked up diagnostics and cleared the yellow light, will see if it comes back. Was OK for 5 min drive to work after.

Did the garage tell you what had caused the light?

No, their reader didn't say.
I'd be quite interested in getting a cheap odb lead and see what I can learn with that and my laptop Smile

I had the yellow engine / anti-pollution fault come up a couple of times, the light followed a few stationary stop starts of the engine when fixing the reversing sensors, it went off on it's own after a short run and hasn't been seen since  Smile

If you search google for the anti-pollution fault you will see that the light seems to have a mind of it's own and can come on for no real reason.

Think there's a thread on the forum about cheap OBD bluetooth devices, some people report them as being ok, mine doesn't seem to work though  Dodgy

Thanks. Trying to decide between the various OBD dongles (with an Android app or for my laptop maybe) or spend twice as much for the self-contained unit that more guaranteed to work but probably less flexible.

Use the search box at the top of the forum and type in OBD, there are quite a few threads regarding the dongles.

A lexia is the best tool for Citroen / Peugeot and this will give you just about dealer level access, but you do need a laptop to use it with.

There are some cheap hand held devices on ebay that would be ok for clearing fault codes etc but not sure which one's work best.
