...Berlingo solenoid/immobiliser bypass
#1
...Hello there everyone (...another newcomer to the forum)

...So ...I've recently written-off my 2000 Berlingo van ...and after trying to restart it ...all I get is a key warning light and "beep beep beep beep" ...first ...with research it looked like it would be the fuel cut-off switch that can be triggered by having a bump ...but I can't seem to find one anywhere ...so with more research ...I read about bypassing the solenoid/immobiliser ...by taking a live feed from the reversing light switch mounted on the top of the gearbox ...and connecting it direct to the solenoid ...but I don't know where to connect it to on the solenoid ??? ...on the front of the pump there are two block connectors ...a blue one and a black one underneath ...it doesn't need to be a tidy repair ...I just need to get the van running to be able to sell it for spares

...Thanks in advance for any help on the subject

The fuel cut-of is a dohickey in the engine compartment.
Here's a picture of a typical switch:

and here you see where it's typically located:
(It may be in another position in your car)

It's the part labelled '7'
Just push down on the upper part.
but if that one was the issue, it would still allow you to crank the engine.
so it's more likely the Immobiliser.

The solenoid is the immobiliser, they will still crank I think as starter is direct to the barrel unlike later cars/vans from memory

There should be a switch on a 2000 year van, swapped to bsi's and psf1's when they went canbus, they don't have a cutout externally, it's done in the psf1

If you can get on Citroen service box, register and lie that your trade, you can find it on a parts pic (it's that long since I've seen a 2000 Berlingo but I think it's mounted on nsf strut area from memory and has a red rubber cap on it about an inch across... Wink )

As for the immobiliser, you can't just tap into a wire to get around it, you'll need to replace the coded solenoid with a manual Lucas cav type and then feed it with a live, it's a pain as it's behind the armour plated 4mm steel plate held in by shear bolts and has fuel lines going through it for good measure Sad
