Needless to say they were old enough to have known better and will think twice before trying anything like that again!
And when someone was about to break into the car in a car park........................................................
woodshaper Is she ex Police? She is very cute

No, I trained her, she was on 'death row' in a branch of well known animal charity (*NOT the one everybody instantly thinks of) having had 3 previous owners, she destroyed the downstairs of her previous ones.
I have been involved in canine behaviour/training/canine rescue work, so knowing what would happen to her and what had happened to her previously, I adopted her.
She has been VERY BADLY 'line bred' and has either had or got just about every inherited problem that GSD's can have.
(and one very, very few have had)
Main one is called IBD this was undiagnosed when I got her and is the reason her previous owners could not handle her as it causes unpredictable behaviour to happen!
I could (and may well) write a book about her later, she 'has not been dealt some good cards' as the vet says.
NB, first owner took her to MOD to see if they wanted her to train as a Patrol Dog, she failed the assessment as she would not 'GRAB'
You dangle a ball on a rope in front of her now and boy will she grab!
*She is a credit to her breed and does not have an aggressive bone in her body despite everything she has been through!
Anyway this a Berlingo Forum not a dog one so won't go on.
My Mk 3 is still in garage, starting problems returned yesterday.
Glow Plugs being checked.

The mind boggles - That sounds VERY painful. It sounds like it was a very brave move to take her on. Certainly something I never could - Even toy dogs have me on edge. Well done

I never leave anything in my van. It is completely empty, especially overnight. Not a pen, pencil, cd or fag end. It is parked on the drive and rarely locked. Can't see the point of having the locks forced or the window smashed only to find it is empty...
Suppose I am fortunate in my job that I don't have to leave it full of tools, equipment, etc all the time, and don't live in a big city.
And if you believe the Police, isn't car crime on the decline and at its lowest level since Noah was a lad?
Sure we can all sleep better knowing that.

I'm kind of in favour of leaving no valuable in the car and leaving unlocked in the hope that those of an 'inquisitive nature' can satisfy their curiosity without wrecking the car. I'm not sure how I would stand if they subsequently nicked it, as the insurance company might not look on the claim very sympathetically if they became aware the vehicle wasn't locked.
I don't get much support from 'er indoors over this, as her Dad was a rozzer, and reckoned to lock everything up. Didn't work with his daughter though!
On the subject of dogs providing security, there was a case a few years back where a posh house not far from here was burgled. The owners weren't at home but left their two Dobermanns loose in the garden. The thieves cleaned the place out after shooting both dogs with a crossbow. Nice people.

putting new locks on any van only draws attention my advice tint the back windows and then put guards on and a good strong bulkhead made from inch and half ply does a great job

Woodshaper,
I hope you don't mind me asking, I see the first pic you posted up was with your Mk2 with your barjo tailgate guard. Now my question is this, Have you managed to use this in the Mk3 Xtr or have you had to buy a Mk3 shape Barjo tailgate guard.
I'm in the same situation, 3 springers and a New to me Berlingo on Tuesday next week. See there are 2 barjo tailgate guards on eBay, One a Mk2 and one Mk3. I am really really loathed to buy the Mk3 barjo guard from the seller as i know how much he paid for the pair of them as he got the seat back guard as well. Listed under another name too!!
