Good to see you got the resistor pack fitted, I guess by mentioning that it's fitted from the air intake and not from under the dash I saved you a lot of time and pain 
. . . I've no idea how you could have got it back into position from under the dash considering the fight you had to get it out.
The resistor sitting there in the air intake is more or less what I pictured / recalled from the ZX, I'm sure there will be enough spare cable to pull the resistor off far enough so the connector plug can be disconnected, just make sure to keep hold of the plug as you don't want it disappearing back through the hole into the depths of the dash!
I see you ended up having to remove the wiper motor as it is directly above the air intake, not sure what the layout would be on a RHD version so maybe the motor could stay in place or be worked around if you know you can reach in and reach the resistor.
The LED's look good and appear to give a good even illumination
