[Engine] Hdi Engine Cover Bolts Studs
#1
you know those little rubber bolt in pegs that the engine cover sits on!!!!

I have in the past brought cheap ones Genuine ones... it does not seem to matter....
I have a great collection of them that have come detached from the screw in mounting...

I have tried UHU Gorrilla, Super Glue, Araldite.... you name it...

So anyone found anything thet can be used to stick them back together....
(that does not cost £40 for more than would be needed for the entire production run)
See little point buying more as they all seem to meet the same end.......

Ditch them!
Cut some lengths of allthread (M8?) and screw them in the holes.
Cut some lengths of fuel hose, or similar, to the height of the rubber parts of the mount. Slide them over the allthread.
Fit the engine cover and slide some rubber tap washers down the allthread to seat on the cover, followed by steel washers.
Fit nyloc nuts on the thread and tighten until you have a little compression on the tap washer.
Cut the allthread and take the burrs off with a file, to just above nyloc nut.
Job done.
I did this to my 2.0l more than 15 years ago. Never had a problem. And how hard is it to take 4 nuts off
when you do need to access things?

Good luck!  Vlad.

I used some Renault exhaust bobbins (M6 thread) and nuts on the top to hold the cover on. They've lasted a few years now.
So where does this bit go then ?
